you're looking to develop your signature style, the first thing you need and this is actually probably the easiest thing to identify is at least one visual cue. It's Coffee Social, the podcast, all about social media and business. And now here are your hosts, jonathan Howard and Mimi Langley. The time when I say it normal, you say where's the energy. When I give it some energy, you say I'm scaring people.
Speaker 2:Because you go from like what is it 10? To like 110. Well, shouldn't 10 be good enough, I guess?
Speaker 1:If you want to put people to sleep. All right, nobody ever falls asleep watching me.
Speaker 2:That's very true, because I'm always like wondering what is he going to do to me? What's coming next? So, before we started hitting the record button, do you want to tell people what I was trying to figure out?
Speaker 1:What were you trying to figure out?
Speaker 2:How to put my headphones in.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, you couldn't figure out how to put your headphones in your ears, and this we wonder why, mimi is technically challenged.
Speaker 2:Well, thankfully they put the letters on the earbuds, like L for left, R for right, but have you ever switched?
Speaker 1:it up and just went against the grain and put the right in the left.
Speaker 2:I'm sure I have because I'm dyslexic. Okay, sorry about that, it's all good. Also, before we jump into today's episode because I know, know, this is your specialty we're going to talk about signature style. Okay, so we were talking about this earlier, about how, you know, we've really improved as hosts and like not to toot our own horns or anything, but we don't really talk over each other anymore we don't we?
Speaker 1:we actually remember that we have to let the other one finish talking. And then mimi doesn't like trample over what I'm saying generally, because anymore.
Speaker 2:Okay, it's very hard for New Yorkers.
Speaker 1:See how she just did that.
Speaker 2:But it's very hard for New Yorkers to let people finish their sentence right. I'm not the only one who thinks that.
Speaker 1:Well, it's because we think that we know what they're going to say instead of listening. We should listen better. As New Yorkers as a whole, we need to listen better.
Speaker 2:Okay, but listening is a skill. I talk about this all the time. We should do an episode on listening.
Speaker 1:We should.
Speaker 2:Okay, I'm writing that down. You want to? Cheers. I think it's appropriate.
Speaker 1:We should coffee. Cheers, yeah, cheers. What are you drinking today? I am drinking my Stoke cold brew with whole milk today, not coconut milk.
Speaker 2:I'm very shocked that you put a cold drink into your not see-through mug, I know. What was the thought process behind that?
Speaker 1:It was the closest mug I had. Okay, I almost forgot my coffee this morning.
Speaker 2:Yeah, which is not good for us Real quickly tell people who you are. This is a micro short episode.
Speaker 1:We're at five minutes already 10 seconds or less Tell them. So my name is Jonathan Howard, I'm the owner of Success on Social and I help successful coaches reach their ideal clients on social media through their signature style and telling their story so they can change the world Done.
Speaker 2:That was like 15. But hey everyone, I'm Mimi Langley. I teach women in business how to host rooms, how to moderate on social audio. That includes LinkedIn audio, clubhouse, chatter, xspaces all of them you guys to grow your business from the ground up. That was 10 seconds. All right, jonathan, let's dive into this. Some people might have clicked and they're like what the heck is a signature style? So what is a signature style?
Speaker 1:Okay, so people will think that a signature style is a whole lot of things, but what it really is, it's your unique and consistent way of showing up on social media in life around your business. It's how you show up for your business, but it's especially on social media and it goes beyond just the visuals and the logos and stuff. It's really. It includes your engagement, your tactics, your strategy, your posting strategy, your personality and the stories you tell. So it's kind of an all-encompassing thing.
Speaker 2:Well, and this is something that you're always teaching about, talking about I know you use it heavily in your membership that you have. I'm thinking about everything you just said and I'm like where the heck does one get started? Because that's a lot of variables.
Speaker 1:There are a lot of variables, and those are things that you're going to need no matter what. When you're doing social media, you're going to need to think about your visuals. You're going to need to think about your content planning. You're going to need to think about how you're engaging with people. So we work on all of that inside the Signature Style program, because it's a whole program that helps you with those things. But if you're looking to develop your Signature Style, you know the first thing you need and this is actually probably the easiest thing to identify is at least one visual cue, Like one thing that people will see on you and they'll recognize that it's you. It'll get them to stop the scroll. It'll get them to actually be interested in what you're putting out there. So that one visual thing is a really great place to start. There's a lot more to it, but it's a good place to start.
Speaker 2:I love that. I want you to real quickly, since we're probably going to be wrapping up soon. I want you to tell us we're still trying to get used to these micro episodes. But tell us, can you give us a few examples of a visual piece? I know you have your hat.
Speaker 1:I do, I have my hat.
Speaker 2:If I throw out Taylor Swift? What does Taylor Swift do for visual?
Speaker 1:Red lipstick. Oh great, your red lipstick.
Speaker 2:Yep, okay, anybody else? Miley Cyrus.
Speaker 1:Miley Cyrus is right now. She's in her getting dressed up era. She is becoming an adult. It's very flirty. It's very flirty, it's very fun, but she's getting dressed up.
Speaker 2:Anybody else that you can think of? That would just kind of tie everything together for somebody. I always throw out celebrities because people just know celebrities.
Speaker 1:Well, I don't know celebrities, so give me a couple more and I'll see if I can nail them.
Speaker 2:Do you know? Sabrina Carpenter?
Speaker 1:No, no idea.
Speaker 2:Oh gosh, Okay. Who else is a celebrity? Britney Spears.
Speaker 1:Uh, drunken falling out of cars, that's not it, okay. So, like, I often use my rotary phone in my content and I use it because it's one of those things that gently speaks to my audience. My audience is generally 40 to 60 year old female coaches that have been through. You know what they're doing and the phone is a kind of a tie back to hey, I was there too with you. Like, I remember rotary phones and that sort of a thing. So that's just kind of another signature item that I can bring into it. My business coach uses she has glasses, chains and you know really funky glasses. She loves those. So those are things that you can use wait wait, wait.
Speaker 2:What about me?
Speaker 1:and then, first of all, if you don't know what a rotary.
Speaker 2:If you don't know what a rotary phone is, we just, jonathan, just showed it on the youtube video, so make sure you go check it out. Um, I could never understand how to use those things. There we go, you're gonna have to get. Where'd you find that garage sale? Yep I knew it okay. So wait, you were going to talk about me, so let's all be quiet for this moment. Your blanket this is why I wear it.
Speaker 1:It's a signature piece, even though it is, and we we've talked about you. You have signature sayings as well, which are important another aspect of it it's not the visual aspect that we're talking about, but Mimi once a moderator, always a moderator. Bingo, okay, I like that it's part of your signature style.
Speaker 2:Okay, I feel like. Who wants to invite Jonathan back to talk more about signature style? I know we could do like 10 of these mini episodes about signature style, we could.
Speaker 1:It would be all about me by the way, I do have a membership that.
Speaker 2:Yes, and the link will be in the description, of course. Make sure you guys clickety-click that and follow Jonathan, too, on his Instagram, because he's always giving amazing examples.
Speaker 1:I try, I try. See, I plugged you.
Speaker 2:There you go. I put you before me. I know You're so sweet. I put you before me. I know You're so sweet. All right, do you want to go ahead and wrap this one?
Speaker 1:up, wrap it up. Oh goodness, we are not in the swing of these mini episodes. We'll figure it out.
Speaker 2:It doesn't feel right Like it doesn't feel it doesn't.
Speaker 1:It's like I feel like I'm leaving you with. I guess I'm leaving you wanting more, which is probably the right thing to do.
Speaker 2:We should probably do this more often.
Speaker 1:Oops, all righty. Well, on that note, mimi, should I say don't forget, if you're watching this on 1010, make sure that you go over to Apple Podcasts and subscribe, and get your mom to subscribe and your sister to subscribe, and any iPhones that you can find on the street, just get them to subscribe, because on 1010, what we want to do is run up those podcast charts on Apple and we want to be number one. And if we get to number one, guess what? I will shave my head, and I proved it the other day. I actually do have hair to shave. He has hair, yes, I have hair. So I am going to shave my head if we get to number one.
Speaker 2:Come on, you guys. I really want to see this.
Speaker 1:Mimi's going to be working on it, I'm going to be working on it, we're going to be pushing our people to get it. So, yeah, also, if you haven't done so already and you enjoy our content, make sure that you give Coffee Social five stars. Mimi cries when she doesn't get stars. You know, like those dog commercials and they're sad. And Sarah McLachlan singing that's Mimi. When she doesn't get five stars, we have to get her on the season.
Speaker 1:I know she can sing, but Mimi does cry when she doesn't get five stars, so please give her five stars. I also appreciate the stars if you're enjoying what you are getting from us here. We're on all the podcast platforms. We are on all the social media platforms, practically because Mimi just keeps putting us on all of them. And yeah, mimi, over to you. You see how much he blames me. I blame?
Speaker 2:I don't take any responsibility at all for anything, the stuff I have to take for us to give you this, except for everything that goes.
Speaker 1:Whatever, whatever. We don't talk over each other at all, except for the stuff that goes well.
Speaker 2:I take credit for that. I was going to ask the most important question of them, of them all, but I know we're changing it up I know season two. So what are we going to do? Team what versus team what, jonathan, you decide your style.
Speaker 1:Generic content versus team signature style. That's not fair, is it? That's not fair because who it?
Speaker 2:That's not fair, because who's going to vote for generic content?
Speaker 1:The people that are doing it, which is most people.
Speaker 2:Do we do? What should we do?
Speaker 1:I don't know. Look at 10 hours later 10 hours later they came up with.
Speaker 2:Another 10 hours later? Team short episodes or team long episodes? We really need you guys to tell us please. I personally can talk for like three hours.
Speaker 1:So no, we're not doing a three hour, no, not a three hour episode, no.
Speaker 2:You guys Cheers. Vote for three hours Okay.
Speaker 1:Thank you, nobody's voting for three hours. Okay, cheers, cheers. Thanks everyone for watching. Bye, jonathan Howard. Three hours, okay, thank you, nobody's voting for three hours.
Speaker 2:Okay, cheers, cheers. Thanks everyone for watching. Bye, jonathan howard bye, mimi langley.
Speaker 1:I can see it, I can see it. I can see it in those eyes.
